This was based on the Discovery Channel Top 100 Americans. But, I brought in about 20 new people.
Some of the people missing in the Discovery list that I added:
- Thurgood Marshall - First Afro American member of the Supreme Court. T.Marhsall was the chief advocate for the NAACP in the landmark Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, 347 U.S. 483 (1954), which ended segregation in America.
- Woodrow Wilson - Helped set out vision for League of Nations
- Billie Jean King - One of the great female tennis players who helped promote gender equality in sport. My feeling is she did more than be the wife of a President.
Great Poets / Writers
- Walt Whitman
- Emily Dickinson
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
- Henry Thoreau
