Top 10 Innovators

Some of the world’s great innovators who have made remarkable discoveries.

1. J.Gutenberg  (1395 – 1468) Inventor of the first printing press in Germany. Also created one of the first publishing firms, selling many copies of the mass-produced books, like the Gutenberg Bible. An innovation which changed the world.

2. Thomas Edison (1847 – 1931) During his lifetime, Edison filed over 1,000 patents for new inventions. He also had the capacity to make them commercially viable. He made a fortune through the electric light bulb and other inventions such as the phonograph.

Galileo 3. Galileo – A great innovator who developed the telescope, pendulum clocks, thermometers

Charles_Babbage 4. Charles Babbage developed the first computers which he called his analytical engines.

5. Marie Curie (1867 – 1934) Polish physicist and chemist. Discovered radiation and helped to apply it in the field of X-ray. She won Nobel Prize in both Chemistry and Physics.

tesla 6. Nikola Tesla – Tesla made many great inventions related to electricity, in particular, the modern AC electric current which became the standard.

Louis_Pasteur 7. Louis Pasteur – Developed the process of pasteurisation which made wine and milk much safer to drink.

michael-faraday 8. Michael Faraday – Worked on making use of electricity through his discoveries in electromagnetic induction, diamagnetism and electrolysis.

9. Steve Jobs (1955 – 2011) Steve Jobs was the great innovator of the digital and home computing revolution. Jobs oversaw the development of key innovations such as the iPhone, iPod and iPad.

10. John Logie Baird John_Logie_Baird – developed the first Television and also worked on first colour tv.
